2024 resolutions – No more dead internet!

I’ve been thinking – after I was blocked from Twitter – about all the time I wasted on there subconciously…

I’ve been super busy with my RL schedule and bemoaned my fate to not have a few hours often to sit down and write some nasty story while illustrating with my 3D figures… But I was more active on so-called “Social Media” (modern doublespeak) than ever. I’ve warned my buddy Maxx Feral about this. Now he’s on Twitter which he’d dismissed (rightly) as a “Toxic Shithole”…

I’m through with twitter and I’ll just have friends spread the word now and again and if they get banned I’ll have a spam-bot or something mass advertise. But even that doesn’t hit the real issue:

We are living in the emergence of the “Dead Internet Theory” – here’s a quick vid:

One of many – essentially it’s increasingly fake and it’ll only be you on the internet and everyone alone but plenty of bots/AIs to make us feel not alone and of course control us and monitor us, etc. Not so much Big Brother but rather Cyberpunk Dystopia stuff.

More or less this was feared in the 90s when the Internet started exploding into a new amazing tool from previously weird geeks and lab rats of the universities and government labs. We are witnessing it happening now.

Ever notice if you have wasted time on social media how quiet it often gets around big events like elections or just after a shooting? IMO the owners shut down most cross-talk, effectively a light “Shadow Ban” to limit the reach of “Terrorists” due to the Govern-NOT bleating it’s used… They could beat them away with lawyers but the Govern-Not controls the big dogs kinda with a carrot not a stick. They get tons of illegal tax breaks, antitrust exemptions…we’d be up in arms if we had a real media to tell us how much Corporate Welfare they get.

We need to fight for our internet back.
Simple:

1 – Get your OWN website. I suggest paid servers that tend to be “Letter of the Law in the USA” – Dreamhost is good on this.
2 – Try to make your own thing. Not everyone is super creative, that’s OK. You can play with parodies and nostalgia for the earlier eras of the internet and have fun without a major lifetime commitment. Serious – retro themed webpages at least for a sideline fun might be a good way of saying “I am against Dead Internet!”
3 – Support by looking up and browsing. Start with DuckDuckGo.com as (One Man’s Opinion) the major search engine is biased towards snake oil con-men and Govern-NOT agendas. Dust off the pre-major search engine “Link Chain” and “Page of Links”. You used to be able to crawl from one page to another to another in some kind of incredible fractal tree.

Social Media has become truly evil – and the Seven Deadly Sins are quite manifest in it. Mostly it’s around pride and envy with wrath running the show. Sloth in that you tend to waste time being dully bored but giving attention to it… Gluttony and Lust for obvious reasons. The owners of it are all about greed; giving very little but absorbing insane amounts of money and power and then wanting control and not caring any unethical actions save fear of the Govern-not.
So – for 2024 I suggest strongly you try your OWN website.
NOT any kind of “Free” social media. PAY for your own hosting from a private company -or-if on the net constantly you can even make your own server.. Older computer or cheap computer and Costco HDD – your own mini-server… That’s a bit technical but super cheap and easy compared to the 00s.
For most people I’d suggest an entry level plan at Dreamhost or many other paid servers, but have had the most experience with Dreamhost. They came in during a big censorship push so had free speech as a high priority. You can’t do Pirate Bay 2.0 or HackWare sites – really “letter of the law in the USA” stuff that would get them sued – on the other hand it doesn’t matter if you hurt one or a million people’s “Feelz” they can get their own website…

To the new year, my Fishes, may we RAM through a better internet than this “Social” media swill!
